Title: distance between hives
Post by: obxbee on March 13, 2012, 07:43:49 PM
Im setting up my hives in my back yard and dont have a whole lot of space. What is the suggested distance between the hives I need to keep.
Right now they are about three feet apart. I pick up my bees Thursday and want to bee ready to roll.
Thanks in advance,
obxbee

Mine are about one inch apart.

As long as you have a place to set down your top cover & frames & such it doesn't really matter how far apart they are. They can touch. Heck, I've even had hives on top of each other for a while. The bees don't care either way. Make it convenient for your needs.

Just enough room to work the hives.

Since it's impossible for two objects to occupy the same space at the same time, you can't get them too close...

Mine are all on 4-way pallets so are very close to each other. I place the pallets just far enough from one another to get a mower between them.
