checked them last week, they were fine. checked today and they were all over me. attacked my dogs and son. anyone got a queen near kannapolis,nc?
If I kill the queen and they raise a new one, will she be the same?
How were the weather conditions when you checked them? Smoke? Do you have just one hive? I would look into why they were hot first before I pinch her.

just came back in from checking for queen. didn't see her. I was advised to split the hive so that is what I did, we'll see what happens
If they swarmed on you and they have not gotten a new Queen yet and there are feral hives in the area there numbers may be down and they are fighting to survive. they can be really really hotduring that time. also if you check them late in the day when forager's are in they can have real bad attitudes. let them calm down for a week then go to the hive and squat down just next to the entrance and see if the chase you off. do this for a couple weeks and see if they calm down. I have had hives that get hot then become the nicest hive i have and can open them up and work them without suit.
