Title: Starting my first hive!!!
Post by: Dogguy on April 15, 2012, 01:21:22 AM
Getting my 3# package of bees in 2 days, here is a list of what I have on hand ready to go, tell what I am missing!   I built my hive, it is all 8 frame IL mediums with a std bottom board, inner cover, top and using foundationless frames.  Have the bee suit, hive tool etc .

With all that I am planning on using only a single hive box to start the package with all 8 frames installed with an entrance feeder.  I have decided not to spray the bees and will use the method of removing the side screen to dump out the bees.  For the queen I am going to pull the cork on the candy end make a small hole with a nail and place the container on the bottom of the hive, close and hope for the best.

Sounds like you've done your homework and are ready to get started.  Be careful about using and entrance feeder.  Invites robbing.
