I was wondering what one would sell a complete 10 frame hive set up, two deeps and two mediums, to include full of bees?
I sold a set up just as you are talking about 5yrs ago for 200.00 bucks, with queen excluder and a home made stand.i thought that was a fair price
As much as the buyer is willing to pay. :-D
I was selling to a friend that was wanting to get into beekeeping and see if he likes it. I didnt want to charge too much but I also didnt want to let the stuff go for a loss. The hives are full and already have one honey super on.
200 seems like a bargain if the equipment is in good shape. I coud not replace the gear and bees for that.
For a friend I might sell them a fat nuc at a low price, and tell them to buy their own equipment. If next spring they dont want to continue I might agree to buy the equipment from them providing it was compatible ith my setup. This way they only have the cost of the bees at risk. I always need more equipment, so little risk for me.
Four frame deep nucs [just bees and frames with brood] are selling for $120 around here, and you furnish the wooden ware.
Around here strong 5 frame nucs are going for $100.00. Wooden ware included.

Id say depending on how many boxes are full of bees. And shape/age of woodenware, and no pest or diseases.
A painted 10 frame box in good shape with frames and foundation is worth about 40 bucks new so about half that used or less. I sell a new painted single deep hive kit with laying queen for 249.00. A painted 4 box hive with frames and foundation kit 275.00
Used painted Equipment
4 boxes with frames and foundation=60 to 80
4 boxes with draw comb less than 5 years old=100 to 120, more than that, comb is to old and should be rotated out or replaced and is worthless
1 to 4 boxes of Bees with laying queen 100 to 150,
Complete used painted hive with 4 boxes, draw comb, full of bees, queen, brood, honey, pollen. depending on age/condition of woodenware and bees/brood. 250 to 350

Holy Crap! The woodenware for a full hive setup is going for at least a hundred here, and that does not include the bees! If Georgia was closer, I would quit selling my own and just buy those.
IMO $200 is a fair price since it is a friend that you are trying to get started. If it was a stranger I'd say at least $350. Five frame nucs not far from me have been going for $135. Packages are not much less than that so I think a nuc is a much better option. A full blown hive with bees and supers should be worth much more than a 5 frame nuc. I think nucs are so lucrative, I'm not going to combine any of my small hives this fall and attempt to overwinter them for sale as treatment free nucs in the spring.
If you are a really good friend, you'll get them setup for free. :)

Bjorn, that wooden ware was for a 5 frame nuc. Our club members ordered 110. They were strong nucs.
+1 what Shanevrr said. Around here, the local beeks sell hives for about what Shane reported. Probably does vary from region to region based upon the economy and supply vs demand. Ask for a price that makes you feel good about the transaction.
You could always talk to him and say you would supply and full hive setup for one year and work with him one day a month for the first year. and you get the honey. if after a year he still wants to have bees split the box and let him have the hive half and you get the split if not you get the hive back. this way he gets to start with out the fear of cost. ( this works with my friends only )

A guy in our club is selling nucs, your wood ware, for $90. Last year I bought 3 hives, 1 deep and 2 shallow supers, for 125 each from a local estate, some of the boxes weren't that good but were several used supers not on the hives.

So its a done deal. He got two complete hive set ups with bees, slatted bottom board, and frame feeders. I sold both for $250.00. He asked how much we agreed on and I said $250.00. He started writing the check for 250. I said 250 each and he thought it was 250 for both. I didnt say anything else so I think he got a super deal.
