Hi my name is Travis. I'm a fledgling beekeeper in Harrisburg, PA, USA. I am starting my first Langstroth hive this spring. My package is scheduled to come in the week of May 1st. I'm getting very excited starting on this hobby.
If anyone has interest in following my first year as a beekeeper you can do so at varnershive.blogspot.com
I'm excited to learn from all of you and the knowledge that you can impart.
Welcome Travis.
Good Luck,
Steve

Travis,
Welcome, don't forget to join the Pennsylvania Backyard Beekeeping assoc. Big player in the association just south of you in Dillsburg. I am just south of there in Fairfield. Welcome to the site it is a goldmine of info.
GL this year.
Shakespeare or spartan?
Hello and good luck! I am getting my first hive this year too. My husband CVbees has been at it for about 2years and my grandfather was a beekeeper but this is my hive and I am excited.
As my husband says the PA group is really nice and they have a mentor program.

Thanks Annette! I know what you mean. I get some crazy looks from people when I tell them. Some women ask for roses, I ask for a smoker! :)
:-D :-D :-D
Hi Travis, I just started my own hive two weeks ago. Also a langstroth - 3# package of bees. If you are curious about what NOT to do - ask me, for at that I am an expert!
Good luck!
Thanks for all the hellos and well wishes. I got confirmation that my bees were shipped yesterday and they should be arriving in the next day or two.
Lysandor is from Shakespeare not the spartan. And I know that I spell it wrong. I started using the name years ago and the forum I was on someone else had used the proper spelling so I started using this spelling and have continued to use it ever since.
