Title: Club booth at Farmer's Market
Post by: ajharwood on April 24, 2012, 10:43:58 AM
I have been tasked to organize a table at our local Farmer's Market for our local Beekeeper's Club.  Does anyone have any idea what I should have there? I plan on bringing a empty hive set up and tools, jacket and vail, extractor and uncapping knifes, and a live worker bee and drone. Any other ideas?

You could sell honey, beeswax candles, etc. You might have contact for members of your club that do bee removals. An observation hive would be a neat thing to have there. Are there beekeepers in your club looking for new beeyards? You may run acroos some folks that would love to have someone keeps some hives on their property, have that info. handy. Have fun. -Randy

If anyone in the club has an observation hive, they draw a lot of interest.  Anything that is made with wax or honey, possible literature on bees, CCD and things to do to help the bees.

How about pictures of wasps, hornets etc so people can see what the difference is? And literature on how chemical pesticides are bad or even a story board about it. I always liked looking at a piece of cut comb at the fair bee booth.

An opened squeeze bottle of honey for demo.   A drop on their fingers for taste.
