Title: Adding a second brood box
Post by: mat299 on April 27, 2012, 08:00:14 AM
Ok, I am planning on adding a second brood box to some of my four new hives that I started this year.  Can someone tell me if there is anything special that I should do other than just adding the box on top of my original brood boxes?  Should I move some frames from the lower box into the upper box to get the bees working in the upper box?  If so, do I replace the frames from the lower box with new foundation?  This is my first year, so I don't have any foundation that is already drawn out.  Every frame I add will have new plastic foundation in it.  Thanks for any advice.
