Title: Bears destroyed my hives
Post by: Oblio13 on May 26, 2012, 09:14:43 PM
I had three hives in a chain-link enclosure. Last night three bears tore it apart and totally destroyed them. Every box, every frame. The property owner's college-student stepson heard them, looked out the window and saw them, then went back to bed without making any attempt to scare them away or even tell anyone.  :-\

I have two more hives at another location.

Bummer. This is the second bear post this week. No bear problem around here, just hive beetles.

Bears may be cute to look at, but they have no respect of property.

Apparently neither do college aged stepsons....don't feel bad, my full blood college aged son would not have even said anything.  LOL

I don't think I'd be so hard on the kids.  I don't know too many grown adults that would go toe-to-toe with a hungry bear!  In fact, sounded more like an adult response!  Not a lot you can do.  Sounds like electric fence is in order! ;)
