Title: Brood Cells Sideways?
Post by: keito on June 02, 2012, 04:32:32 PM

Can anyone tell me what they are thinking when they did this or am I doing something wrong?

Frames too far apart.

Looks like you gave them too much bee space between the frames.   They built that burr between the frames.

You have plastic foundation and they wanted drones and there was room... so they took advantage of it.

Had the same thing happen with my foundationless frames, they built two out identical to that!! Why? Probably because they had the room to do it between undrawn frames. All I did was rip it all out, moved some of the nicely drawn frames up and put foundationless inbetween them, problems fixed!!

If you dont rip them out, it will be a domino effect of bad comb, trust me on this!!

Always fix bad burr comb as soon as it is noticed.   Tear out and push frames back together.
