Welcome to the forum.  They are addictive.  You may want to see if there is a local bee club also.  Good luck with your bees.

Welcome!  Where about in the Catskills are you located?    I'm in Olivebridge, near the Ashokan Reservoir.   

Also,  another new member rubeehaven2 (http://forum.beemaster.com/index.php?action=profile;u=38611) is in Lake Katrine.   He and his wife just got 2 hives a few weeks ago after participating in an intro to beekeeping course I taught.
