10 days ago the hives were drawing and filling a super per week. The super count was about 25 % ahead of last year at this time. The brood nest was three plus boxes deep.
Supers put on a week ago are still being drawn but at a much slower pace. The brood nest is being back filled with nectar, as the queens have slowed by about half. It is like a switch was turned. This bee behavior matches the local blooming. Lots of flowers appeared a month early, and are now spent.
That's is a good description of my area of middle TN.
same in the st louis area. we appear to be going into a drought. the lack of rain slowed everything down.
Welcome to farming.
We are still cold up here and have had a lot of rain. Bees are not quite making a living waiting for the main flow which is a few weeks off at least. I am actually having to feed splits. My Carnies who I love for wintering so well have really backed off broodrearing. I guess I needed to keep feeding and think I will give the ones not supered a taste.
