Title: Trap out question
Post by: czman11 on June 07, 2012, 12:47:26 AM
Hi everybody

A month ago I started a trap out out of the tree and it took a quite a long time to get the bees out. Well almost out. They quit coming out in bunches about a week ago and since than only a few bees a day come out. Today I saw only 2 trying to get back in to the tree. Since this is my first trap out I need to know if t is okay at this point of time to remove the cone and let the bees rob their old hive.

Thanks
Paul

I would wait until I saw no bees come out at all for a couple of days. Also when you remove the cone keep a close watch on the bees going in, if you see any pollen at all going in then you have to close it up again as there is still an active colony in the tree.
