Title: I am a wood worker not a glass blower.
Post by: David McLeod on June 26, 2012, 10:42:58 PM
Well this evening I dry fit this Ulster Observation Hive I have built. All clear select cypress with all but the nuc milled by your's truly complete with it's own screened bottom board with mite board, it is a thing of beauty. All except, you guessed it, the glass. I somehow got off in my measurements and came up a half inch to short.  :hissyfit: Oh well, I guess I need to order two more pieces of tempered and the club is going to get a donated slightly modified Ulster when I get around to the next one.

Don't they make cypress wood color duct tape?  You can fix anything with that stuff.   Even 1/2 inch short glass.   And where da pics?

Measure twice cut once. I heard it all my life, yet I still think it should read...measure 4 times and then sleep on it, then measure again. Then one more time before you make a cut or place an order. Been there. Arg!

Just frame it in or fill the gap with liquid nails.

You're a woodworker.

Just make a nice framing for the outside and do what's necessary on the inside.  The bees won't care.
