Title: my first swarm
Post by: bens on July 16, 2012, 08:22:04 PM
Had my first swarm on saturday.
I only have two hives.
One from a split from my only hive last year.  I put a russian queen in it.
I bought a package of italians in April.  And it turns out the new Italians swarmed not the Russians.  They only went 15 feet away into a blue spruce about 6 feet off the ground.  I cut the branch down, and put the branch in a deep, with 6 drawn frames.  I took the branch out 24 hrs later, and they seem to be doing good.  Workin the frames pretty good.  Hopefully the original hive gets a mated queen.
