Title: A Swarm in western IL ? In September ??
Post by: Sour Kraut on September 14, 2012, 06:42:48 PM
Got a call from over by Springfield, 35 miles east about noon

Was kind of skeptical, but it was a nice day and needed a road trip

Decent sized swarm, maybe 1 to 1.5 pounds, clustered on the trunk of a 7-8 ft Scotch Pine

Got them in a hive with no trouble, going to pick them up Monday when the home-owner gets back.

I  hived 2 swarms  on Aug. 27 and 28 but they sure are building fast they better. Not much time left.
I seen eggs with in 5 days.
Good luck.
