Title: megabee infestation
Post by: danno on October 24, 2012, 10:53:03 AM
I opened a 40 bag of mega bee to use in my candy boards about 2 weeks ago.  This bag was purchased last year.   Yesterday I noticed small holes in the side of the bag like someone had jabbed it over and over with a ice pick. Powder was leaking out of the holes.  I looked in the top of the bag and it was loaded with live small black bugs that disappeared under the powder.  I poured the remainder of the bag in a  5 gallon bucket, sealed it  and popped it in the freezer.

Glad I put mine in a plastic garbage with lid can in the basement. I've had that happen to a smaller bag in the garage. Small moths came out when it was reopened.

I would not worry about it.  Freezing will kill any bugs and bees won't mind.
