I have been requeening some hives but cannot find one of the old queens. I have looked through the hive twice but I cannot see her. There is quite a lot of drones in there which tends to make it hard and the old queen wasn't marked. Has anyone got any suggestions on how to find her? I have a replacement in a queen cage and she has been in there for a bit over two days already. How long will she survive in there? Should I feed her?
Can you see any eggs in the hive?
I didn't look for eggs but I did see larvae.
.
If you do not find the queen, devide the hive into two hives.
Next day another part is nervous and starts to make emercengy cells. That is queenless.
Then you put queen right hive to old site and it collect most of bees.
The queen right hive have now 2/3 less bees. Then you should find it.
Thanks Finski - I have been wondering the same thing and now you told us a clever way of how to easily do this.... thanks again.
