I've been turning a few honey dippers. Hard maple and will probably try cherry. Any thoughts on a coating? or just leave as raw wood.

I have never looked at commercially sold product. I saw a brief reference to oil, but there was not a specific. Vegetable oil? I have in the past used mineral oil on a cutting board. But that is a petroleum product.
The only oil that should be used on food use items is Vegtable based oil. Food Grade oils ONLY. unless you what someone to get sick. stay away from peanut oil due to allergic reactions.
but for the dippers. leave them raw uncoated.
John.
Thanks John, that's the way I was leaning.
After all, that is the way of all our wooden spoons.
all that I have bought have been raw
