Title: Bee identification
Post by: Kaine on February 01, 2013, 11:17:13 PM
Hi,

Found this bee in my car after a recent trip to Canowindra NSW. Was wondering what type it was and where to release it. I live in Sydney.

Any replies would be appreciated
Thanks

Are you sure it is not a fly of some kind?  I don't see four wings for starters.

I showed my mate who works at Melbourne museum and this is he response:

Looks like a flower wasp (Family Tiphiidae). Not sure of the genus.
