Title: 2 nucs next to each other
Post by: timdalyiii on February 25, 2013, 09:38:11 PM
I ordered a nuc today since I lost my colony.  I was just thinking I might as well get two.  If I get 2, can I install them into hives a few feet from each other without any issues?  If so, is there anything I should look out for?

Thanks for all the help.

Tim

I do it and never had a problem. I put 5 or 6 to a row almost touching each other. Be careful if you feed them that it don't set off robbing. I use hive top feeders and never had a issue with robbing.

Make sure and leave enough room between hives to be able to get your hive tool between them on the long axis.
That way you know you can get into the hives easily.  A short hive between 2 tall hives can be interesting to get into if they are closer than that.
