I found this tonight on Amazon. I am a Prime member so shipping is free. I can find equipment similarly priced but shipping kills it. I know someone will say it is cheaper to build, but this so much easier ;)
What did you find?? :? ;)

:lau: :lau: Details, Details, Details....
Hey BIM, I must admit, he has me curious! Maybe hjon71 is just trying to build enthusiasm for the thread before he tells us....
reminds me of a plexiglass wax melter
LOL I feel silly.
Here ya go.

hjon71,
Don't sweat it! :)
If I had a nickle for every email I've sent where I've forgotten to "attach" the attachment....I'd be a rich man!
I built my own boxes....honestly, it had as much to do with the fact that I enjoy woodworking and wanted to experience the entire process, start to finish, as it had to do with saving a few bucks. If that part of beekeeping isn't appealing to you or you're not set up to do it, or don't have that much time....by all means, buy your equipment.
I haven't run the numbers, but you're correct that shipping charges will kill you and are a huge part of the equation. I would think that the free shipping angle will make it tough for anyone else to be competitive.
Good Luck! :)
That's a dollar cheaper than Mann Lake sells them on their website. With Mann Lake you can get free shipping if you buy over $100 worth of merchandise.
It's not a bad deal if that's what you're looking for.
Best wishes,
Ed
Something else to remember is that many vendors will deliver customer orders to large beekeeping meetings such as state association meetings and large regional meetings at no charge to the customer. This is a terrific way to dodge the freight charges and purchase from the vendor you want to buy from.

hjohn...Unassembled super 'kit' from Mann Lake includes frames and foundation at $35.95. As others have said, free shipping with ML over $100. So more of a matter of what is your time worth, IMO. I myself find it relaxing to build my gear, and I also clue and nail every joining point, plus I know it was done to my standards. They do mention 'staples' on the amazon site, so you may be reinforcing the assembly anyways. Not a bad deal at all, though, if you want assembled.
We have a very small retail biz going here through North American Bee Hives (mostly just for local club members that buy our nucs ) and sell assembled supers with frames and plastic foundation for $35. I haven't sold any this year yet but you can search for them to get current pricing...they're in Jacksonville, FL.

Thank you everyone. So I'm not hurting myself, Good news.
I do hope to build some equipment over the next winter, but that jusy isn't possible right now and I need it before swarm season.
Check local suppliers. I just bought a med for $14 and the frames would have cost me $1 each if I needed them.
Note that the Amazon listing states that it won't ship for 2-4 weeks. You said you need it for swarm season so that might be an issue.
Shipped today. Gotta love Prime

Prime pays for itself fast if you do a lot of shopping...which I do. It still pays to shop around. Last week I bought a table saw from a local lumber store for $125. Amazon has the same saw for $299.
I found out a couple days later...after I've been using it...that my sister has a table saw, still in the box, that she would have given me.
The other benefit of Prime is free streaming video like Netflix.
Did I mention I love Prime?
You are right about always looking around for the best deal though.
I asked about thin foundation for cut comb at the local shop and they had no idea of what I was talking about.

probably the reason is terminology. some call it thin surplus foundation.
