Post by: Dash12721 on April 27, 2013, 12:27:11 AM
Well, new to area and spent the winter preparing for the spring.  Starting two hives next month and will see how book learned works on the real thing.  Lots of good reading here so have a good resource.

Welcome to beekeeping.   :cheer:

Other then books, look on YouTube. If there is a beekeepers club near you, I suggest you visit or even join them. They can give you local help and a lot of clubs have a mentoring program to help you get started. Of course there is always here to help you.  -Mike

welcome.  Youtube is a great place to find out what you're in for.  You can watch beginners dressed in battle gear hiving their first package or veterans dressed in tank top and shorts whipping frames around like nothing during their inspections.
Good luck

Welcome to the forum, Dash.  You do realize that somewhere in your beekeeping journey you may very well live up to your name.    :-D

Best wishes,
Ed

Great adventures ahead.

There's lots of beeks in your area, find a mentor or someone who will at least help you check on your ladies once in a while during your learning curve.

Eastern Washington is a great place for bees!

Thanks all for the welcome.  Took delivery of my first nuc yesterday and lived to tell about it. Found out bees can push through duct tape when sitting in the back seat of the truck, that was interesting to say the least.  Got things situated and got them all installed safely.
