Title: Waiting to install new packages.
Post by: mat299 on April 29, 2013, 10:18:35 PM
Ok. I am picking up some new packages late tomorrow afternoon.  At this point, I am not sure that I will get home with them in time to get them in my hives though.  My question is will it be ok if I just leave them in my garage until the following afternoon and then install them?  Is there anything special that I should do to them or will they be ok.?

Do you have a basement where you can keep them in the dark and cool?   I would mist the cages with some sugar syrup  a couple times before leaving for the day.

Yes.  They can stay in the basement as well if that is better.

I would rather see them cluster in a cool place like a basement than be confined inside the package somewhere it could get excessively warm.
