Title: California bee removal license
Post by: TemeculaBeek on May 03, 2013, 12:08:25 AM
I read a post by Kirk-o from about 2008 that indicated (from his experience) that a license is required to remove bees in California.

Anyone here know where I could look for more info on this? Google mostly sends me to exterminators.

I don't want exterminators I want to remove hives/ do cut outs, legally. Be a nice new business since I can't seem to get myself hired.

I don't know about CA but FL changed the law to requiring a license and then a couple of weeks ago rescinded it. They may have done the same thing. Here you just have to be a registered beekeeper.
Be sure to watch JP's, Hardwood's and Bailey's videos. They will really help.

Last season I removed bees from 3 different bbq pits, none this year, so far :-)

I rather enjoy removing them from pits as they're usually at the perfect height & the hive can only be so big, so you pretty much know what you're getting yourself into before you even show up
