Title: My only complaint with the 120 frames
Post by: Georgia Boy on May 05, 2013, 06:33:36 PM
This is the only complaint I have with the Mann Lake 120's in the gaps around the outside of the frame. I sure they did this for sturdiness and to reduce weight and probably cost but...

Bees get trapped in the gaps when you close the frames together and die.

In this one I had seen it in the last inspection photos and thought it might be beetles turns you to be pollen.

Other than that I do like the frames.

Caulk them shut

The bees won't try to remove the caulk? If the bees ingest the caulk might it harm them?

Just asking.

They won't mess with it.   No need to remove it.

It will become a haven for beetles. Not a matter of if, but when.

If you only put 9 frames to a 10 frame box as I do you wouldnt create any traps for the bees and SHBs. Also lets the bees build out comb farther and makes it easier to uncap.
