Title: Carnies from Big Island Queens- any feedback?
Post by: Caelansbees on May 10, 2013, 12:37:08 AM
Just got my hands on 5 queens from Big Island Queens out of Hawaii.  Does anybody have any feedback on this company?  What are your thoughts?  Queens are still few and far between from what people are saying.

I do not know anything about this company; however, I did want to congratulate you on your choice of Carniolans which are clearly and undisputedly the overall superior bee.  Well played, sir.

I actually have a few different.  Have some Russians in one area, some Italians in another now adding some Carnies over there.... Still not sure who I'm more fond of.

Are they KONA queens. A friend gave me a few queen cells and 2 hatched. I put them in new nucs that i had made. Only one made it and ended up giving it and another hive to a newbee that I am mentoring. That hive is going gang busters. The other hive made their queen from eggs and are lagging behind.
