Title: Virgin Queen
Post by: RHBee on May 29, 2013, 07:25:46 AM
I have noticed that all of the virgin queens I find during inspections are acting like they are scared. You know fast moving and hide well. Mated and established queens move slowly and deliberately across the comb. Is this normal?

Yes.  That is a good description of the difference.  It's why virgin queens are very hard to spot.

pretty much but i have some mated queens that get a little "runny" at times too.  i think they're faster before they're mated (could be because they are substantially smaller at the time).
