Tried it today we will see if it works. Had a hive that i noticed a few bees coming out of and one three down with a lot at the enterence so i made the switch late afternoon and even added a deep with drawn comb.
Question.. how long till i see a difference?

Tomorrow I would think.
I have used it a few times always worked for me.
You should have moved them when all the foraging bees were out. Would have been a stronger boost.

No matter whether they are in or out, the first time they leave they will return to the old location. That is my honest understanding. :) d2

I'm thinking Don is right on this...if there's nothing to que them to reorient, they'll return to the original location.
Ahh moots is coming along well. They will return mostly to the original hive site the first time they leave to forage the next day.
What the others said is correct. I've used this technique several times. Works well. The only issue I've had is that it can involve some heavy lifting.
