I've been thinking today about all the challenges that face beekeepers and their bees and I started wondering what you would consider to be the biggest enemy of the beekeeper?
politicians
Beekeepers & Bee-Havers. :piano:
varrora mite
agri-business as in monsanto, bayer, & & their ilk
golf courses with their heavy duty chemical regimens
suburbanites who have to have a perfect mono grass lawn
chem-lawn & others like them
Money. I hate money.

The wife
Sad but true. Maybe she will come around some day.
the varroa mite, the small hive beetle, the migratory pollination industry and beekeepers that rush to dump a different pesticide into their hives every fall. after that i'd say that the push by the current administration to convert us to ethanol.
All of the above.
Beekeepers biggest enemy? Politicians
Bees biggest enemy? humans
They are not the same, you know. Politicians and humans, that is.

I like the way you think.
Ignorance... :?
The politicians,
The public,
The beeks, and
Yes, even the wife...
Enemies will evolve. When one is neutralized, another shall appear.
Knowledge is needed to keep them pacified.

That is the turn my thoughts took when pondering the question today, glad that someone else thinks along the same lines as I do...
Can't add nutten. ;) :) d2
First day in the forum. I like you guys already. Those are some funny responses.
Welcome to the forum jette23. You'll learn a lot here, and have many laughs in the process.
You might want to add your location to your profile. Very often it helps to know where someone is when answering their questions, or considering their answers.

I'm sorry...but this is just hilarious...then again many often do not think like I do.
Number of hours in a day, and my eyesight.

Pesticides.
Man
Mites and loss of good forage land.
Time and money
The more time I have for the bees the less money I have for them. The more money I have for them the less time I have to watch for the small stuff.
If I get a lot of removals I got some cash to blow on the hives but then I dont have the time to work them so they swarm go queenless and overall just cost me more money so then I have less time. lol
Father Time, my back's killing me.
Bee Clubs; They lead to more bee deaths than CCD <g>
They also lead to more bees living than otherwise would be possible. The only way they can lead to bee deaths is by club members doing something. The only ones who don't make mistakes are the ones who do nothing. Bee clubs are a newbee's best asset.
Pesticides and the general public.
Ignorant beekeepers that don't look after there bees and spread treatable deceases to there beekeeping neighbors.
beekeeper that aren't in a bee club and that don't inform themselves about new research progress.
mvh Edward :-P
Man is the biggest threat to bees. We started everything downhill a long long time ago. But we are also one of the best things for bees, because we do care for them and use them. Where is that balance in our use and care of bees that is good stewardship?
I'd have to say "gravity" right after "pesticides"...
I would guess pesticides..( which really means man)...we are staying with friends in NY...a rural farming area. His lawn, which is huge, is full of white clover. I walked all over it an did not see one honey bee.
