Took one hive last week was doing well then yesterday it got robbed. I've slowed it down some but I tihnk there is still a bt of odd behavior so I don't think its totally over.
Took another one today.
Did not confirm a queen in either but the first one had several supercedure/swarm cells on the comb. SO now the question is do I add the one from today by shaking it out? Do a combo say with newspaper or just treat it as a separate hive?
My hesitaion comes from the robbing- the first one is obviously weak and vulnerable- but is it not on defense? If I try to do anything will they not attack the new residents.
And again there may be queens in one or both..
I'm a newbee, and I had a problem with robbing from a cutout too. I have a really strong hive next to this smaller hive. I put a reducer on the entracne to give the smaller hive a smaller area to defend. That seemed to really help them out. Just throwing that out there.
