I have a few strong hives near some apparently weak hives. see pic) what can I do about it? one was already robbed out . I like to prevent the others from being robbed!

I am sure it looked like that the day before! my hive was almost mt so I figures they robbed it out unless the hive failed somehow!

Robbers are frantic.  You can see that in Iddee's picture...

plus they tend to be really pissy.  if you can walk up there and not at least get pinged it's a pretty good indication that it's not robbing.

what is your indication that one was already robbed out?

What idea is to keep hives that way together that bees must fight all the time against each other?

the flow must be shut down here ! we been having lot of rain.i set up a feeding barrel 100' away to take some pressure off the hives.

Were there wax cuttings around the entrance and in the hive. Lots a folks finding empty hives but not robbing. Some full and in a week or two when they check again empty of everything.

adamant - If you are having robbing problems,  make a robbing screen for each hive that you want to protect.
  I started using one this spring and they work wonders..  The house bees can go and come as they wish, but robbers never seem to figure how to get in.  Its also interesting how all the bees will leave by walking up the screen; and enter by walking on the hive through another hole.
