It's another hot Michigan USA day and the bees are fanning. I like watching them and cannot get over how patient that they are when other bees tumble into them and then crawl into the hive. They stop fanning, let the other bee crawl of and without moving a millimeter, begin fanning again!
I noticed that about 4 hours ago the fanners were all on the right side of the hive. Now they are all on the left side.
What is this all about?! I'm sure they know what their doing but I wonder if it has anything to do with where the queen is. Possibly it's a sun position thing.
I've also noticed that the warmer days really bring out the odor of a hive. It depends on which side of the hive the sun is shining on. They move to cool the hot side.
I'm in the same boat except it was hotter than 95 F the other day...
