I'm doing away with my deep equipment. I have deep frames that are full of pollen and honey. I basically want to be able to feed this back to my colonies. All these frames are wired with vertical as well as horizontally. My plan is to cut the wires and split the comb into two equal sections. I've never done this but I understand that you can pass current through the wire heating it up enough to melt the wax into it.
Am I overcomplicating the process. Should I simply put a couple wraps of wire around it and call it good?
I would just put it in the medium frame and hold it there with rubber bands. The bees will fasten it to the frame.
Jim
That's pretty simple. Thanks Jim. I didn't know if the bees would attach it or not.
Yep, bees will attach the comb like Jim says.
I'm a bit confused what you were planning to do with current? Were you thinking of setting the old combs on the new medium frames and applying current to get them to 'sink' into the medium frames? That would be an interesting experiment, but way too much work.
Blue, yeah that's exactly what I was over planning. Sometimes I think to much. I'm a firm believer in the KISS principal but on occasion my implementation of it gets a little lost.
you are going to do this next year, right?

I don't understand. Kathy why does it make a difference?
