Title: How do I kill larvae in wax comb without a deep freezer?
Post by: Beetific on August 09, 2013, 09:30:07 PM
My mentor gave me bags of wax comb that needs to be cleaned and melted, but there are living things growing in it and I don't have a deep freezer. What can I do to get rid of all the bugs?

Oops. Sorry. I suppose this should have been under pest and disease control...

Do you mean you don't have room in your freezer?  No special freezer needed...any ordinary household freezer will do!  How long have the frames been bagged?  If you are seeing too much "wildlife", it may be too late...

I put them in my solar wax melter. It both melts the wax and kills the wildlife.

That's exactly what I do, iddee.

Just render all the wax comb to worry they will be very few things that can live in melted wax.  IMHO these two are backwards melt first clean second.
