Title: trap out complete - one question left
Post by: dfizer on August 22, 2013, 04:28:52 PM
Hello all -

I have completed a trapout which was started about 2-1/2 months ago.  NO bees are coming out of the cone whatsoever, furthermore there has been no activity from the tree entrance for at least 4 days.  The hive will be removed in the next day or so.  The only question I have is what to do with the old entrance / hole in the tree where the bees were before?  Perhaps seal it up with a small piece of plywood?  Any suggestions for sealing up the old hive location would be great.  The hole is about the size of a tennis ball.  The only goofy criteria I am working with is - this tree is in the middle of someone's front yard and they want it to be very "unnoticeable".

Please advise.

David

We filled with spray foam the glued some bark from the same tree onto that so it didn't show.

I would call an arborist and get the filler they use.
