I opened up my hives today for the 1st time so I could put the plastic foil that the Germans usea as inner covers back on as they were taken off for the transport. I was very shocked to see what a mess was inside the hives! The last one was the worst - The frames are in the wrong direction and spacing was a mess! The bees have bridged gaps with comb and glued everything else together!

I got a lot of work ahead of me next spring to clean this mess up!!
that doesn't look like a mess, but i can only see those two pics. looks pretty normal, but that comb between the frames is your fault. why did you space the frames like that?
Spear,
Didn't you just get these 12 hives from a the widow of a beek that passed away.
I agree it doesn't look too bad.

ok, then it's not your fault. :-D
still doesn't look bad. more pics?
I got 10 hives from the widow. The other 2 I got from a beek in the bee club. The pics don't really show the mes to clearly, will try get better pics next time I open the hives.
Here is a few pics of the hives. As you might notice they are mixed sizes stacked together.

It looks beautiful to me... where is the mess? Bees always glue everything together. That's their job.
