Title: Fall feeding.
Post by: OPAVP on September 15, 2013, 09:44:24 PM
Hi Friends,
Did I read in the last few weeks something about feeding bees with a icecream pail, filled with syrup ,with some straw on top??

Can that be done?
If I put a pail like that on top of a spacer on top of the second box will that work?
I'd have the pail inside another super of course.
Please let me know soon.
Thanks for your ideas.
Cor Van Pelt.

Sure, that will work.

However, as long as you're going through the trouble of opening the top to place a feeder and you want to minimize drowning I'd use something else like a pint canning jar, a few small holes in the lid and placed upside down over the inner cover hole.  The result is less mess and more importantly, less drowning.
