Has anybody had any recent experience taking comb honey in your carry-on bag when flying ? I don't want to have it confiscated at the security check. I have doubts about it surviving in the baggage.
I don't know but it may be a violation of some interstate commerce law or an agricultural movement law.
I had a teddy-bear (12oz) and Jacksonville, FL airport made me throw it away. It exceeded the 4oz max limit on liquids. I think you could argue until you are blue in the face, but they will say even though their is a lot of wax, the honey would exceed the limit and they'd toss it. Stowing is a different story, talk about STUPID REGULATIONS - the TSA person said I could go through the door to the tarmac and run out to my plane, and they would put the teddy-bear in the stow bag for me. I shook my head befuddled, thinking - I can't carry honey in my carry on, but I can run around the air-field freely to have it placed in my (or who knows whos bag) that sure sounds safe. PS... they wouldn't even let me consume the honey, stating "we don't know what's in it, you could be drinking an explosive for all we know" so they THREW IT into the trash. This is the part where I say "The terrorists won a long time ago" as long as we have to take our shoes off, can't even carry the short ginger-ale cans through security, we lost. Of course, if you wish to buy the $40 6 ounce bottle of comb honey from the gift shop or the super-sized fountain drink for $9, that's okay. STUPID RULES, STUPID.
do not take it in carry on luggage. they will make you toss it. if you pack it, i recomend that you leave a note on it explaining what it is. this is the note i used a couple of weeks ago. if they don't know what it is, they may take it. you can do a search here for those who have had adventures with TSA and honey.
do not wrap or over tape the box you pack in your luggage. they will open it to look at it.
Dear TSA,
This is raw honey that I'm taking to my family for Christmas. If you have any questions, please call me @

PS, If you wouldn't mind slapping a piece of tape back over the boxes??
i had honey in two diferent bags. one agent taped the box up like it was going to be air dropped from the plane :-D. the other just slapped a piece of tape over it!
