Title: price for cleaned wax
Post by: tandemrx on December 25, 2013, 01:19:13 PM
Maybe this should be in craft corner, but trying to figure a price for 1lb blocks of cappings wax that has been cleaned.

I see prices from $3-4/pound to $1 an ounce.

Hardly worth selling it for $3 a pound . . . . well, hardly worth selling at $15 a pound given how much work goes into cleaning it and rendering into blocks (not even fancy blocks).

Still, have people interested.  What are people selling it for these days?

Merry Xmas :)

Here in Hawaii we sell it for $10 per pound.  The stuff that isn't really clean we sell for $8 per.  My wife works at getting it clean by putting it in the microwave.  She lets it melt, then harden.  The bad stuff goes to the bottom.
One of the things we do is barter for wax.  Works out great for everyone.  We take some wax and honey to the local farmers market and trade for veggies.
