Title: FatBeeMans baby nuc
Post by: KD4MOJ on February 10, 2014, 03:19:21 PM
Anyone build this yet? Looks very interesting to build since you have to build frames as well or cut a frame in half.

Would be nice to have a Robo Layout for this!  :)

FatBeeMan has plans for building this on his website for a couple of bucks. I got them, they work well. Plans include instructions to use full size super to get the frames drawn out.

I made some of these a couple of years ago.

With the exception of putting them back "together" so I could insert only one frame at a time in a regular deep box, not having to make a whole box of the half frames. This is a deep frame that is cut in half. I used a strip of 3/4" board in between the two frames and secured with a single nail in each frame into the 3/4" strip. I did use foundation and cross wired them in place. Was just playing around with the idea and have not made up any of the queen mating nucs yet. Just another way.

He also stated in the video that he is using 4 frames instead of 5 but didn't say why (although it holds 5).

He uses 8 frame equipment. I assume that's why only 4.
