I'm getting ready to start some new bees this year. I lost all three hives this winter. One of the hives I lost this winter had some DWV last fall. Do I need to destroy the frames, etc. or can I use them again? [Did a search, found nothing...]
I do foundationless. I already cut all the old comb off. Just wondering if I need to do more with the frames and boxes of that particular hive.
[I'm thinking the other hives died because they were too small for the wild cold weather we had here in spite of the stores, candyboard, insulation and covers they had.]
Thanks.
Deformed Wing Virus is transmitted by the varroa mite. I see no need to destroy your equipment. The only thing you would need to have worried about in the wax would have been pesticide contamination, Foul brood or nosema.
Thanks Buzzbee - I just wanted to make sure.
Sorry for your loss. I would agree with Buzz.

watch the vid on bio control for viroa mites
RH has ordered some HM from evergreen and is doing a study himself to see if they work

It is my understanding that virus like those that cause deformed wings do not live without a host so nothing is gained by burning valuable comb.
About the only reason for burning equipment is American Foul Brood. It takes a flame to kill the spores.
