Title: Wax foundation ?
Post by: labradorfarms on March 30, 2014, 11:40:50 PM
I installed my wax foundation in the frames today. I had two small bottom  corners break off the foundation. Should I change it out or would the bees even notice such a small thing. Mabye an inch broke on a bottom corner.

Also my installed wired foundation flexs from front to back. Is that ok or should I wire it to make it hold still???

The bees do not care if the wax foundation has holes in it. They will repair what they want to.

If you have deeps with no wire in the foundation itself, it will sag a bit.
If you have deeps with wire in the foundation it just might warp.

I use deeps and shallows with wired foundation and also cross wire it in the frames. I only use the two center holes in the deep.

They don't care. They will draw a frame with no foundation in it  :-D

You should cross wire the  wired wax if it isn't fairly straight. They will make some wired comb with warped foundation.
