Title: Looking for land to relocate my 2 hives near San Jose, CA (bay area)
Post by: SJbeelady on April 27, 2014, 11:42:20 PM
Hi -

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a bee hive permit because my hives need to be more than 50 feet from my neighbors dwelling which it isn't  :-\ I'm looking for somewhere to relocate my 2 hives somewhere in the Bay Area.  Besides Craigslist, where else can I look or make a posting for space?  Are there any beekeepers in this forum that are willing to "rent" space or have somewhere I can move my bee babies to?  I have 10 days to get them moved

Sorry to hear about your situation. I am so glad I was raised up in and still live in the country!

Some ordinances say that you can within the space limit if the dwellings in question give you their written permission.  Was this an option?  If not, that's sad.

You might try looking up your local beekeepers group.  As a quick search, I came up with this:

Good luck!

Thanks for the support and advice.  I've been asking everyone I know to put the word out for space for these two lovely hive.  One friend who lives in the mountains put out a message on their Mountain Message Internet Bulletin and had several positive responses from residents in the area who are willing to help host my bee-babies.  Looks like I'll find them a space with a nice mountain view :)
