Title: 1st swarm of the season
Post by: rober on May 09, 2014, 06:07:39 PM
got the 1st call last Saturday but they left before I got there. got a call yesterday & this swarm could not have been easier. they were hanging from a single limb right at eye level. sprayed them with some sugar water, snipped off the excess part of the limb, then I snipped the limb next to the swarm & put them into my catch bucket. hived them & locked em' down this morning. the homeowner told me there was a bigger swarm 2 days earlier in his neighbor's yard so I suspect this was a secondary swarm & it will likely have a virgin queen.

Nice job. I just got a call of a swarm that moved into the underside of a mobile home, yesterday. I will check it out Friday.

Thanks for the tip Andy.

Good going, Rober.  I haven't seen one yet this year.  Now I lost a colony over the winter and had a swarm move into that hive.
