Hello Everyone!
I am a first time beekeeper in Baltimore, Maryland, and am looking forward to learning from you folks!
A bit about me:
I have two hives on the edge of my boss' hayfields, and am using 8 frame langstroth hives with medium hive bodies, which I stocked on April 19th of this year with Italian package bees. I had been considering getting bees for a long time, as I am a huge fan of sustainable farming but, alas, still live in the city (I've had to content myself with a small garden and chickens.) I am also a chandler and soap maker... I really enjoy the idea of using my own wax and honey in my products!
Aside from bees, I do a lot of cottage crafting. I raise and show French Angora rabbits, which I use for fiber as well. I am a HUGE textile nerd. I enjoy spinning, weaving, knitting, growing my own dye plants, crocheting, sewing, and nalbinding. As I mentioned above, I make soap and candles, too. When not crafting, I am an avid horseback rider, do a lot of gardening, and participate in dog coursing (I've got a plotthound, a greyhound, and an Italian greyhound.)
In real life, I am a veterinary assistant, and am currently in school to become a registered vet tech with a specialization in large animals.
Looking forward to having productive hives!

Welcome to the forum.
Welcome to the forum, Jarnvithr. Welcome to the forum and to beek. Reading over your intro, I grew up on a farm, showed cattle and dogs. Have done a lot of my own veterinary work, never went to school for that, wished I had. I used to raise, hunt and show Black and Tan coonhounds. I get to rambling, sorry. You will do fine, its not that hard really. Good luck in all your adventures.
Joe
