Title: queen flew the coop
Post by: rober on May 30, 2014, 03:51:46 PM
was checking on that small cutout I  hived earlier this week this morning. pulled out a frame & spotted the queen just in time to watch her fly off. I guess I have a 50/50 chance that she'll return.

were there queen cells in there.  you may have seen an extra or a virgin fly off.  did you wait with the lid off to see if she came back?  sometimes they don't go far.

it was the one & only queen ( she's marked ). I'd been in my suit for an hour so no I did not wait vey long. i'll check the hive in the morning. I did remove the entrance reducer.

Hopefully she made her way back. Give them a few days, then check for queen cells.
