Title: hello
Post by: agnewbee on June 08, 2014, 09:21:15 AM
Hello, My name is Ann. I am a new beekeeper. This is my 4Th summer with bees. I lost all my bees last winter and am starting over with 2 nucs. It would be nice to have bees survive for more than one year. I am excited to be able to access so much information, and hope to bee more successful with my hives this year.

welcome home
insulate the hives with 2 inch foil backed insulation including the top.
paint all the surfaces of the foam make darn sure it doesn't melt the foam.
use foil tape to assemble the foam pieces
cut the foam to the size of the box your covering not the whole hive in one piece.
the girls wont have to work so hard to keep the nest warm.
then figure out how to ventilate one must remove some of the dampness.
this is likely why your hives didn't survive
