Title: Super sweet honey
Post by: Spear on June 15, 2014, 05:29:00 PM
Harvested a few frames today and the honey is really sweet - I would go as far as to it is sickly sweet even.
The 2 frames I harvested from the same hives on monday are not so sweet also the honey is a little lighter than what I got today.
What could be the reason for this?

The taste can vary quite a bit depending on what plant it was made from. Two hives side by side could be working different necter sources.

Bees tend to be source loyal. If they find something they like they'll work it as long as its producing before moving on to something else.

It could be! I do have my girls very close to an urban area - well they are on the outskirts of town in an 'industrial' area. I'll look around some time to see if the hedges are privet.
