I have the same question about castor bean plants. My neighbor grows them each year because she likes the way they look, but all parts of the plant are poisonous (they make risen out of them, I think) and I've read one should wear disposable gloves if you touch them. Sumac is referred to as poisonous sumac in Connecticut, where my wife grew up. Can either make good honey, or can one or both poison the honey?

The bees down here work sumac most every year. Ours is almost over I think for this year.

it's my absolute favorite honey. it has a buttery-nutty flavor and it is more brown than amber in color.
for some reason it blooms really late in my area. it's about done in town but 60 miles east on the farm it's not even close to blooming. go figure.
10 framer, seems like its usually way later here too. The older plants havent shown any sign. The only blooms I am seeing are on plants that were taken down last year. They grow like wildfire. Looking forward to the honey. :-D
