Title: I've been thinking, hot hives
Post by: jayj200 on June 18, 2014, 12:58:39 PM
just enough to really get in trouble.
those devices one uses to burn weeds. the kind hooked up to a small propane tank makes a kind of large flame.
when one gets a really hot hive and wants to lose it what about burning off the fliers (guard bees) then one can find the queen and dispose of her maybe put some frames in the freezer.

any feedback

If you want to kill the aggressive hive, take a black plastic trash bag and cover the hive and they will generate enough carbon dioxide and heat to kill themselves In a couple hours.  If you time it right, you can save the brood and move them to weaker hives who will be in turn a little aggressive until those bees are gone in a month.

The weed burner to take down aggressive bees might be great fun for 12 year old boys but I am betting that unless you torched the defensive hive, it would accomplish only an all out attack on the Terminator Wannabe by the defensive colony.
